Ahoy,

My name is Dan and I am a critic. I take that back, I'm not so much a critic but rather an observer who has chosen to document his thoughts on pop culture minutia, including everything ranging from toys to film. The word 'critic' just sounds a little more succinct, and 'Privateer Critic' doubly so. I'm not certain what shape this blog will ultimately take. However, I can say that my goal is to make this a home port for all my various musings and reviews that have been scattered across the internet. Over the past several years, I have worked for various outlets as a Reporter, Contributing Writer, Events Corespondent, Senior Editor (still can't figure out that title), Toy Guru and Radio Co-Host. I thought it best to finally gather all of these articles in a single location, lest they be lost in the ether.

As this ship's hold grows, look for more of my archived articles, reviews and other rants. I'll be seasoning this tome of knowledge with random news items and perhaps even a few guest articles. Feel free to take full advantage of the comments section to let me know how incredibly off-kilter my views on the merits of Cloverfield might be.

Think of this blog as the Reader's Digest version of my 'professional' writing endeavors, minus the moldy thrift store smell.
